Our responsibility to protect and nurture Mother Earth is such that the small choices we make everyday can make a difference in a big way. Sometimes this duty can feel overwhelming, so here are 5 ways you can help the environment and give the world some much-needed breathing space.
Eat Sustainably
Irresponsible and intensive agricultural practises are weighing heavily on the planet. Every trip to the supermarket or farmer’s market is a chance for you to choose a food producer that prioritises low-carbon and responsible methods of farming. Consider buying local, shopping seasonally, cooking fresh and maybe growing your own veg! Not only does this reduce your carbon footprint, it’s also likely to up your intake of local fruit and veg to boost community spirit and your vitality.
Buy Once, Buy Consciously
Another way to help the environment is by making smarter material purchases. Choose products made ethically, with eco-friendly materials that are built to last. We choose REWIND™ Fabric and REGRIND™ Silicone to make sure we play our part in reducing the amount of waste heading for landfills, and we recycle waste back into our production methods to make our bluetooth headphones and speakers earth-friendly. By choosing durable, high-quality and eco-conscious materials, you’re more likely to buy once and feel good.
Reduce and Reuse
If you haven’t caught on already, it is the small changes that go a long way to making a big difference. It’s time to learn better habits. Get comfortable with reusing shopping bags, purchasing a reusable travel mug to take with you on the move, and start to think about how you can reduce your reliance on the single-use plastics that pollute our land and seas. We find it helpful to pause before you grab another plastic water bottle... and ask yourself if you could do without and why you’d feel better using a reusable alternative next time.
Travel light
2020 was the year we travelled less and when we did, we stayed local. It was a chance to get outside into nature and take long walks, to dust off our bikes and enjoy the fresh air. Nature also enjoyed a break from the hustle and bustle of car fumes and noise pollution. Let’s take this lesson and continue to appreciate the peace and tranquility to be found in the absence of constant traffic. Take the bus, share a ride, jump on your bike or simply take a stroll.
Spread The Word
Lastly, you have a voice, and now is the time to use it. You can help to raise awareness and inspire change amongst your friends, family and followers by sharing your journey to better living on social media. Campaigns like our One Tree Planted project that supports global reforestation and our collaboration with Surfrider Foundation to aid ocean conservation are great examples of the powerful content that is available to share online.
Like the famous quote “be the change you wish to see in the world”, the single most effective way to influence change is to put your thoughts into action. By starting small and making manageable lifestyle changes, you can lead the trend amongst friends for cleaner, greener living.
